Fourth-Grade teacher Susan Barry was the recipient of a Teacher Leader Initiative Award given by Barbara Madeloni President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. The Award acknowledges Mrs. Barry's completion of the Teacher Leader Initiative designed to promote leadership in the teaching profession and advance student learning. As part of the program, Mrs. Barry focused her attention on increasing technology use in the classroom through collaborative training.
The Morrill Memorial Library recently announced the winners of its Fifth Annual Essay Contest. The theme, this year, was "The Bravest Character I Know". Fifth Grade student Cameron Badger earned Third Place for his essay on Augie from "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. Honorable Mention was awarded to fourth-grade student Nevan Sujit. Other essay winners included former Cleveland students Mary Erickson (First Place) and Meenu Ravi (Second Place).
On May 6th, the Orient Lodge of Masons hosted its annual Norwood Teacher of the Year awards. The Cleveland School congratulates the nomination of five of its staff members: Kristine Atiyeh; Amanda Baker; Beverly Haffey; Nancy Landfield; and Janet Lynch. We extend our congratulations to Norwood Teacher of the Year winner Laura Tolman from the Willet Early childhood Center!
