The Cleveland School welcomed a group of 70 Kindergarten students from the Willett Early Childhood Center this week for Step Up Day. Mrs. Coppola and the First Grade team introduced the soon-to-be graduates to the First Grade classrooms and the school's facilities.
Fourth-Grade teacher Susan Barry was the recipient of a Teacher Leader Initiative Award given by Barbara Madeloni President of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. The Award acknowledges Mrs. Barry's completion of the Teacher Leader Initiative designed to promote leadership in the teaching profession and advance student learning. As part of the program, Mrs. Barry focused her attention on increasing technology use in the classroom through collaborative training.
The Morrill Memorial Library recently announced the winners of its Fifth Annual Essay Contest. The theme, this year, was "The Bravest Character I Know". Fifth Grade student Cameron Badger earned Third Place for his essay on Augie from "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. Honorable Mention was awarded to fourth-grade student Nevan Sujit. Other essay winners included former Cleveland students Mary Erickson (First Place) and Meenu Ravi (Second Place).
