World Language

Bienvenue! ¡Bienvenidos!

The goal of the Norwood Public School's world language program is to immerse students in a language and culture in order to make them knowledgeable and active members of a global society.

We believe that world language study should be a part of a student's educational experience from kindergarten through the university level. Just as a student does not master or learn all there is to know about math, English, social studies or science in two years of study, neither can a student achieve proficiency in a world language following the traditional two year sequence.

The organizing principle for language study is communication. Therefore, we believe that the study of world languages is not only essential to our nation's political, economic, and intellectual security, but that it also opens avenues for careers in business, commerce, diplomacy, defense, education and travel. The Norwood World Language Program, 6-12, is designed to improve student's communicative and critical thinking skills, to increase their awareness of the world beyond their immediate environment, and to encourage their respect for cultural and linguistic diversity.
