SUMMER MATTERS

NORWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The Norwood Public School district is proud to announce the establishment of a new and exciting summer opportunity for your child entering grades 1-5 in the fall.  This experience is designed for students who would benefit from a continuation of learning opportunities to ensure a successful transition to the next grade.

Highly qualified teachers will provide instruction in literacy and numeracy concepts, including reading readiness, literacy skills of comprehension and writing, hands on mathematics, organizational skills and cooperative games.  English as a Second Language services will be provided for ESL students.

The program will be held at the Coakley Middle School - 1315 Washington Street – from 8:30 until noon, beginning on Monday July 8th and ending on August 7th at noon.  This is a Monday through Thursday program.  No classes will be held on Fridays.

Please note that your child must be recommended by their principal in order to register for this program. Students will be bringing home the form from their principal during the week of May 6th through the 10th, and parents and guardians must then return their completed form to their building principal in order to complete the registration process. 

Please note that if you wish to register for a middle or high school academic course, you can use our mail-in registration process, or you can come to one of our two walk-in registrations in order to register your child for a middle or high school academic course this summer.

If you wish to use our mail-in registration process, please email Dr. Crowley at mcrowley@norwood.k12.ma.us and he will respond and email you the registration forms. In order to use our mail-in registration process, your completed registration and medical forms, along with a check for $308 made out to Norwood Public Schools must be received by us before 5pm on Thursday June 27th, 2019. The address to mail your completed forms and check to can be found at the bottom of our registration form.

You may also come to one of our walk-in registration dates if you prefer to use that method. Just a reminder that the tuition is $308 per course, and that the tuition must be paid in full before a student can register. We cannot accept cash at the time of registration. Please make your check payable to Norwood Public Schools.

Our two walk-in registration dates are:

Monday July 1st from 10am to noon in Room 202 at the Dr. Philip O. Coakley Middle School, located at 1315 Washington Street in South Norwood. 

Tuesday July 2nd from 10am to noon in Room 202 at the Dr. Philip O. Coakley Middle School, located at 1315 Washington Street in South Norwood. 

Dr. Crowley will be doing the walk-in registering on these two dates.
