Honor Chorus is for 5th graders by audition who love to sing and wish to make a serious after school commitment to singing in a choral ensemble. The audition is given by the general music teachers in the fall. It is an expectation that conduct will be excellent at all rehearsals.  The first three rehearsals will be open rehearsals.  Singers may attend to decide if they wish to participate.  If a singer attends the fourth rehearsal, it is understood that the singer is making a commitment for the concert season.

Please consider this commitment carefully. Make sure that you will be able to ensure that you can pick up your child after rehearsal on time and that your child will be able to participate in all performances.  Please enter all dates in your family calendar. If your child also has a strong interest in sports, please understand that your child will be expected to honor his or her commitment to the chorus in the Spring when our concert schedule begins.

Honor Chorus has a heavy performance schedule in the Spring, The schedule will be shared at the mandatory organizational meeting for parents and guardians. Permission slips for the singers must be in before this meeting.

PERMISSION SLIPS and MEDICAL information:  Please have permission slips in to the general music teacher at your school by October 1, 2014, and include any important medical information.  If your child needs an epi-pen, your child must have a work order on file with his or her school nurse, and should bring an epi-pen to each rehearsal.

FIRST MEETING:  The first meeting of Honor Chorus is Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the cafetorium of the Oldham School (door #4 on the left side.)

Honor Chorus singers are expected to be at each and every rehearsal and performance except in case of illness of emergency. An absence must be reported to the director. Email is the preferred form of notification. Phone messages will appear as audio files in email.

If there is a serious schedule conflict, the director should be notified 2 weeks in advance.

A tentative rehearsal and concert schedule for 2014-2015 will be posted shortly!

CHAPERONES: For the parents and guardians interested and available to chaperone, and have been CORIED please email me letting me know which concerts dates you may be available. MICCA is very busy, and I would rather have more than fewer people. Please note that you MUST be CORIED to be a chaperone, and that CORIS take time to process. You can file a CORI at your child's school or with me at the Oldham. I need a completed CORI form and a copy of your MA driver's license.  Please email me to let me know if you are interested in being a volunteer.

**It would be wonderful to have an adult attend the rehearsals to help supervise the singers during break, and during dismissal.

Epi-pen training for chaperones will be held onTBD at the high school auditorium with Jill Driscoll, Head Nurse.  It would be terrific to have some chaperones attend. Please email me if you are available for that training. Mrs. Driscoll is also happy to take a few minutes to train chaperones on a Wednesday at the Oldham as well.

PIZZA PARTY- Please have your children send in $5 for a pizza party at the end of the season. I am looking for a few parents to coordinate this as well. Please contact me if you are interested. The singers have a GREAT TIME at this!

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

DRESS Rehearsal at the HS auditorium. (No concert clothes needed, but singers should have them by now). Chaperones needed. Please make sure your child connects with Ms. Cook or a chaperone inside rather than entering the HS alone.

MICCA adjudication will be in NHS auditorium, audience welcome. Cost of armband ($8) lets you in all 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday and at Band MICCA as well.
