Fine Arts studies have flourished here at the Oldham since the Fall of 2004 when our Art and Music departments each received their own dedicated classrooms. (Prior to the 2004-2005 school year both Art and Music subjects were taught essentially off of rolling carts that were wheeled around the school into the regular classrooms.)
The Oldham's Fine Arts teachers are an integral part of Norwood's Fine Arts teaching staff and as such some of their responsibilities extend well beyond the walls of Oldham school.
Art is taught to all grades at the Oldham School by Mrs. Orphanos.

General Music is taught to grades 1-5 at the Oldham School by Mrs. Chambers. All students have two half hour music class each week in the music room.
Elementary General Music is taught from a curriculum which is based on the National Standards and Massachusetts Department of Education Frameworks.
Specific music lessons taught include Orff (percussion instruments and movement), Kodaly (vocal) and Delcroze (movement) methodologies.
The spring is a very busy time for the General Music class. Some special performances occur for grades 1,3 and 5. Grade 1 performs for Grandparents Day. Grade 3 performs a recorder concert at the Coakley Middle School and grade 5 performs a children's musical at the Savage Center Theatre. Music reaches all children at all of their learning and development levels.
