As principal of the C.M. Callahan School it is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to our school community. We take great pride in out students’ achievements and we are always excited to include new families to our school.
The original building was erected in 1930, with an addition added in 1954, and a portable moved to the property and attached in 1990. Our property includes seven and one-half acres including new parking facilities, which were constructed on both sides of our property in 2008.
The curriculum at the Callahan School is rich and challenging. Our staff has been collaborating with Tufts University over the past five years to create and implement a comprehensive program in balanced literacy. We use the standards-based Everyday Math program as well as state aligned curriculum offerings in science and history. Our students also participate in programs designed to improve their skills in art, music, physical education, penmanship, library skills, technology, and social competency.
Our PTA is extremely active and meets monthly to plan educational programs, family oriented activities, and initiatives to support our children’s learning. I strongly encourage all parents to join this very worthwhile organization.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have at 781-440-5941 or through our website at www.norwood.k12.ma.us - Callahan School.
