How To Choose
A Just Right Book
There are several ways to go about picking a book that is Just Right. The Five-Finger Rule helps readers check out how difficult the words might be.
Make a fist with your hand. Pick a page from the book and read the words. Put up one finger for every word you cannot read OR do not know the meaning.
If you have…
** fingers the book is...Easy
** fingers the book is...Just Right
** fingers the book is...Challenging
Remember...If readers spend all their energy and time struggling over words, reading becomes a task. They need to be reading Just Right Books.
