Le projet d’été: Le tour du monde

This is going to be the best summer of your life!  Imagine: A trip around the world!  For your Français 3 Honors summer project, you will plan a trip around the world and travel to these five francophone destinations.

For a successful trip around the world, please complete the following four steps:

Step One

Read the literature selection Le tour du monde en 80 jours by the French author Jules Vernes, and then complete exercises A, B and C on the sheet.

Step Two

Select five Francophone countries or places from the world map provided, and research several of their tourist attractions and specialties.  Print five pictures, one for each country, that will serve as a post card.  Since you will want to talk about your trip and show the photos to your friends upon returning, the photos should be large enough for all in the classroom to see.

Step Three

Read the Flash d’information and the programme du voyage for Morocco.  Use this sample itinerary as a guide to create your own itinerary for your trip.  On the itinerary, list your arrival and departure for each country as well as one activity you did there.  Print the itinerary.

Step Four

Using the passé composé and the imperfect, you will describe your trip to each country on the back of the postcard.  Create a logical iternary and timeline for your trip by using following words: d’abord, ensuite, après, enfin and finalement.  In addition, include information, interesting details and problems about the trip by using the vocabulary provided in the packet.  Work in some of the following linking words: et, mais, parce que, encore, toujours, donc, alors, ainsi, cependant, pourtant and pour que + subjonctif.  Each postcard should be at least 10 sentences long. 

Congratulations!  You have successfully planned and completed a trip around the world!
