The John P. Oldham School, dedicated in 1964, is an inclusionary school with a diverse population. Oldham is dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity. Multiculturalism is not a weeklong "event" but woven into the fabric of the school, with threads strengthened by the commitment of staff and parents. Children learn to appreciate the uniqueness of each culture while recognizing common values.
Students and teachers participate in the Social Competency Program. In a cooperative, caring environment, students develop self-control and take responsibility for their behavior.
Oldham has the only Collaborative classrooms in the district, where in each grade one class has Special Needs and classroom teachers work together in an inclusionary environment to promote student success.
Annual events strengthen community relations. Grandparents day brings grandparents from all over, with many planning vacations around this event. Students donate allowances to the Ecumenical Food Pantry, participate in the Circle of Hope and correspond with "pen pals" from a local nursing home. You can find students engaged in after-school sports, Math Club, or Homework Club.
High standards of achievement for students, instruction based on flexible grouping and cooperative teaching, and the support of an active P.T.O., make Oldham a truly great school.
