Elementary Music

The NPS elementary general music program is a comprehensive, sequential curriculum based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and taught by music specialists. Skills developed include singing, playing instruments, movement, critical listening and the learning and reading of musical notation. Interested students may elect to take violin lessons in the 3rd grade; all other band instruments are introduced in the 4th grade and continued through 5th grade. All students are offered the opportunity to audition for and participate in the district-wide Honor Orchestra, 5th grade Honor Band and 5th grade Honor Chorus.
