My name is Dan Hartery and I am the Physical Education and Health teacher for the Balch Elementary School.
This year marks my seventh year as an elementary Physical Education teacher, with this being my fifth year teaching in Norwood.
I graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 2010. I then went on to attain a Masters of Education in Physical Education and Cooperative Learning from Plymouth State University in 2016. I am certified to teach in Physical Education and Health.
My teaching philosophy is to educate children on to how to make healthy lifestyle choices and to help them develop a life-long love of physical activity.
I always try to practice what I preach. My hobbies include surfing, soccer, volleyball, running, mountain biking and snowboarding. I have also spent many years coaching soccer.
Throughout the school year we will cover a variety of topics in Physical Education. Some of these units include:
- Cooperative Learning
