Leap into Good Behavior

The program works as follows:

Every student will have his/ her own lily pad mounted on the bulletin board.

  1. Every student will start each day with three frogs on his/ her lily pad.
  2. Your child will be directed to remove a frog from the lily pad for any infraction of our rules (non-negotiable rules) listed on our classroom constitution.
  3. At the end of the day, if your child has all three frogs still sitting on his/ her lily pad (YES!), he/ she will earn a "golden" ticket. If your child receives five "golden" tickets, he/ she can redeem them for a reward.
  4. At the end of the day, if all three frogs are removed from a student's lily pad, he/ she will owe me recess time.

I have found this program to be very successful for my students. This program will make your child more personally accountable for decisions. It gives you, the parents, a daily report of how your child is behaving in school. When your child gets home from school, ask how many frogs stayed on the lily pad! This program also teaches your child responsibility. If a "golden" ticket is presented, it is the student’s responsibility to keep it until it can be redeemed. I will not replace lost tickets.

Please take some time to review this program with your child. Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation and support.

Every child deserves the chance to be a successful first grader…

managing one's behavior is the first step!
