What Google Apps for Education Is:
Google Apps for Education is a suite of web-based software applications that allows for the creation of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, websites, email and much more. The benefits for teachers and students include the ability for students to collaborate on projects and assignments in real time online. They will also be able to access their files in Google Apps anywhere they have internet access at anytime on just about any type of device.
Google Apps for Education is available under the norwood.k12.ma.us domain for teachers, staff, and for students grade 2-12.
Services that are available to staff are :
Gmail: Gmail will be our email system for the district beginning summer 2015. Gmail allows for unlimited email storage for Google Apps for Education users as well as integration with Google Calendat, Hangouts and other Apps services.
Google Drive: Online document, spreadsheet and presentation tools that allow users to create, upload and share files. Each user has 30GB of storage space and can access their documents from anywhere they have an internet connection on almost any kind of device.
Google Classroom: With Google Classroom, educators can create classes, distribute assignments, send feedback, and see everything in one place.
Google Calendar: Google Calendar is a web-based calendar that allows you to schedule and share appointments and events, create tasks, and sync on your mobile devices.
Google Sites: Google Sites allows you to easily create and share web webpages individually, or as a team.
Google+: Google+ is a social network that allows you to build a profile and join communities. Connect with other educators, join discussions and share ideas. You can also use Google+ to host or join video hangouts.
Google Blogger: Blogger is Google's blogging platform, which allows you to create private or multi-user blogs for your classroom.
How to Sign into Google Apps for Education:
All Norwood Google Apps accounts sync with our network accounts, therefore you can sign into Google Apps using your NPS email address and the same password you use to log into your classroom computer. If you are having trouble logging in, please send email.
