Norwood Extended Day is an afterschool program operated out of the Norwood Public Schools.  We are an extension of the Norwood Recreation Department and provide high quality after-school childcare for students in K-5th grades.  The program follows the public school calendar.  The program operates at 6 sites: Willett (Kindergarten only),  Balch, Callahan, Cleveland, Oldham and Prescott (1st-5th).  Students arrive at the cafeteria from school and participate in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, STEM, active play games, and outside time.

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 guarantee that no person with a disability shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination in extended day programming at Norwood Public Schools on the basis of his or her disability.  Children registered in the Norwood Public Schools may attend extended day programming in accordance with admission procedures on Norwood Public Schools website (https://www.norwood.k12.ma.us/extended-day/index). No child will be excluded from extended day programming (“the program”) based on disability.

Parents or guardians who wish to request an accommodation for their child in the program should contact the program Liaison, Dr. Jose J. Munoz, Assistant Superintendent for Academics at 781-440-5816. The District encourages requests to be submitted by the time of the first deposit to the program; no surcharge or additional fees will be added to the program fee and no student shall be disqualified to attend the program based on disability-related needs. The District will respond to requests for disability accommodations in a manner that complies with the regulations implementing Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

To file a complaint about disability-related discrimination under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for a child at the program, contact the program Liaison, Dr. Jose J. Munoz, Assistant Superintendent for Academics at 781-440-5816. The District’s representative will contact the complainant and begin the process under Norwood Public School’s anti-discrimination policy.
