To qualify for SUN Bucks benefits students must:
- Get SNAP (including the temporary State SNAP Supplement), DTA cash benefits, SSI with a relative cartegiver, or certain types of MassHealth coverage, or were in foster care; AND
- Were enrolled in a National School Lunch Program (NSLP)/School Breakfast Program (SBP) school
OR
- Were approved for SUN Bucks or NLSP/SBP through an application
Most eligible families in Massachusetts do not need to apply to get SUN Bucks. DTA will issue SUN Bucks benefits automatically to most eligible families.
For example, if during the 2024-2025 school year your child/children got SNAP, DTA cash benefits, certain types of MassHealth coverage, SSI, or were in foster care, you do not need to apply.
ALL STUDENTS WILL GET A NEW SUN BUCKS CARD FOR SUMMER 2025
Students who are not automatically enrolled (see above) in SUN Bucks can apply online on DTA Connect starting June 15 or right now through a paper application with their school.

If you are unable to complete the online application, you can fill out the paper application below and bring it to the Ava Martin at the Business Office at the Savage Center, 275 Prospect Street. You can also email the form to Ava. Or you can go to the Business Office at the Savage Center and they have paper copies on hand.

SUN BUCKS Benefits
- SUN Bucks cards will be mailed in June 2025.
- The first round of benefits will be available in July 2025.
- For applications that are approved later, the benefits will be distributed in August and September.
- Benefits are usable for 122 days from WHEN THE CARD IS MAILED. After 122 days the benefits are expunged from the cards.
- The Benefit amount is $120
- ALL STUDENTS WILL GET A BRAND NEW SUN BUCKS CARD - EVEN IF YOU CURRENTLY GET EBT BENEFITS
- All SUN Bucks recipients will receive a new SUN Bucks EBT card for 2025.
- If you are currently a DTA client, you will also receive a SUN Bucks EBT card.
- For 2025, SUN Bucks will not be paid on your SNAP EBT card. This is a change from last year.
SUN Bucks Card Replacement
Replacement cards must be requested by the family. Norwood Public Schools can't request a replacement card for you.
