- using active reading strategies (i.e. questioning, inferring, making connections
Writing Support:
Students will develop their written expression skills. Topics vary depending on the needs of the individual students, which may include:
- creating topic sentences and concluding sentences
- developing paragraphs
- supporting ideas with details or evidence
- improving word choice and vocabulary
- using transition words or phrases
- revising/editing work
Study Strategies:
Students will learn strategies for improving homework quality, increasing homework completion, and developing study strategies, which may include:
- clarifying directions
- reviewing assignment expectations and due dates
- organizing study materials
- test-taking strategies
- using www.quizlet.com to review key vocabulary terms and concepts from all classes
Independent Learning Skills:
Students will understand their own learning style and identify strategies that support their learning, which may include:
- problem-solving when a task cannot be easily completed
- strategies for approaching teachers for extra help; asking questions; advocating for themselves
