NHS Principal's Update for March 2016

NHS Principal's Update for March 2016

Hello Mustang families,

Although February is taking longer than expected (must be that extra day) March is right upon the horizon. March is a very busy month at most schools, and NHS is certainly no exception. While busy, the time will fly by and I want you to know about these imprtant dates and events.

English Langauge Arts MCAS

As you may already know, sophomore students will take the English MCAS exam on Tuesday March 22nd to Thursday March 24th. Breakfast will be available for all sophomores starting at 7:00 am on testing days, followed by an energy burst activity to fire up those neurons.

On those days, freshman, juniors and seniors do not need to arrive to the school until 11am. We are working on some really interetsing guest lectures and programs during those times too - we will keep you posted!

Athletics Update

Congratulations to both the boys' and girls' basketball teams on qualifying for the D2 South Sectional Tournament!

  • The BSC Herget division champion boys basketball team received the #5 seed and will host Hingham on Wednesday 3/2 at 6:30pm.
  • The girls' basketball team also received the #5 seed and will host Dartmouth on Thursday 3/3 at 6:30pm.

Admission will be $7 adults and $5 students/seniors. Only MIAA tournament passes will be accepted.

The athletic department will be hosting a spring sports information night for coaches students and parents on Tuesday 3/8 at 7pm in the auditorium at NHS. All spring athletes and parents are highly encouraged to attend.

Attention Senior parents!

The yearbook staff is pleased to announce that there are still opportunities to place a Parent Ad for your child. This longstanding Norwood tradition includes a baby picture of your child, as well as a personal message. There are various price points available, starting at $50. Please visit www.norwoodyearbooklounge.com for more information, or contact Julie Treloar at the high school at jtreloar@norwood.k12.ma.us. Ads are due by Monday, March 7.
