Curriculum

The Orton-Gillingham approach with Wilson Reading System and resources and strategies and others multi-sensory phonemic-based reading instruction is used for decoding and encoding with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Fluency is addressed through repeated readings using leveled passages. High Frequency words are practiced and assed for fluency support as well.

Comprehension is addressed through active reading strategies modeled and practiced through shared reading individually, as pairs, or small groups with teacher monitoring and support. A variety of genre are used including non-fiction and fiction.
