DIRECTIONS: The central messages of stories develop, in part, through characters’ actions and the events of a plot. As you read your book, think about the elements of the story that contribute to the development of the following theme: Family comes in many different shapes and sizes.
Use the graphic organizer to list FIVE examples that show the theme being developed and write down evidence (quote with page number) and an explanation to show how each example develops the theme. You will use this graphic organizer when completing your open response writing assignment during the first week of school.
