Anne Marie Mazzola

Anne Marie is a near life-long resident of Norwood and a graduate of Norwood Public Schools. She moved to Norwood as a child and attended the J.P. Oldham School, Junior High South, and graduated near the top of her class at Norwood High School in 1997. Anne Marie attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she earned her B.S. in Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Studies. While attending UMass, Anne Marie was a member of the Women’s Crew, winning an Atlantic 10 Championship in 1999.

Anne Marie is married to fellow class of ‘97 NHS alumni and Norwood Police Officer, Jaime Mazzola. After starting their family in Maine, Anne Marie and Jaime moved back to Norwood to raise their children in 2006.

Anne Marie has dedicated many years to the youth of Norwood. Anne Marie and Jaime began coaching their daughter, Jenna’s, softball teams in 2015 and quickly moved onto the Board of Norwood Youth Softball. Anne Marie would go on to serve as President from 2016 to 2020, even after Jenna had graduated from the program, while coaching several teams in various age groups during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. 

Anne Marie was elected to the Norwood School Committee in June 2020, and served as Chair from 2022 to 2025. She has been a Town Meeting Member representing District 8 since 2018. 

In her professional life, Anne Marie has worked in Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals for over 20 years in the field of Pharmacology. While most of her career was spent working in Oncology Research and Development for companies like Millennium Pharmaceuticals (now Takeda), Novartis, and AstraZeneca, she currently works for Verve Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company developing gene editing treatments for cardiovascular diseases. 

Additionally, Anne Marie holds a Provisional Teaching License in Massachusetts and was a former science teacher at Bellingham High School, teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology, Vertebrate Anatomy and Behavior, Marine Biology, and Environmental Science.

In her “spare” time, you can find Anne Marie at the football field or the hockey rink cheering on her son, Leo. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, especially getting in as much time as possible at their seasonal campsite in New Hampshire during the summer and hitting the slopes in the winter. Anne Marie is also an avid karaoke enthusiast.
