Important Information

Our school day is 7:35-2:05.  The tardy bell rings at 7:50!  Please do not drop-off your child before 7:25.  Staff will not be supervising students before that time.  Dismissal is at 2:05.

Breakfast is offered before school from ~7:25-7:35 for any interested student.  Please note: due to allergy concerns, breakfast foods must be finished in the cafeteria before students go upstairs to the classroom.  Visit http://norwood.nutrislice.com/menu/balch-elementary for more information.

Homework generally is given 3-4 nights per week but should only take 15-20 minutes.  Math lessons include a practice page, and there will be the occasional phonics or literacy assignment.  I try to leave the weekends free.  Please remember that in addition to any homework, your child's day always should include some quality reading time!

Please check your child's folder daily.  All homework and important notices will be placed here.  Please put any information for me or the office in this folder also.

Please make certain your child's personal items (clothing, backpacks, and lunchboxes) are marked clearly with his/her name.

If your child will be absent from school, call the absence line that morning prior to the start of school.  When your child returns, you MUST send in a note explaining the absence, specifically if a doctor's input is required.

If there is any change to how your child will be dismissed on any given day, we must receive written information prior to the change.  Should an unexpected change occur during school hours, please contact the office.  We cannot dismiss your child any differently than expected without proper documentation.
