Message from the Coakley Middle School Principal

Dear Coakley Middle School Community:

The inaugural year at the new Coakley Middle School was exciting! We had so many new

spaces to explore, new faces to greet and a whole new grade joined us! We certainly had some

ups and some downs, but there were so many more positives to the school year! Our

Cooperative Learning coaches got students talking and collaborating in every room, we really

started to engage with the tenets of Applied Learning as we leveled up some lessons! Our sixth

graders won awards at the ONE8 STEM Showcase, and our music program won gold and

platinum at the Great East Festival! Middle School is an exciting place, and we are excited to be

a part of your middle school experience.

 

For the 2026-2027 School Year, we look forward to digging deeper into both Applied Learning

and Cooperative Learning to ensure students are engaged in school while they grapple with a

rigorous curriculum and develop independence. We will begin to use our Restorative

Communication skills to try and navigate decision making and meeting school expectations

while we learn what Restorative Actions might look like in the classroom. Teachers will

continue to use high quality materials (including a new math curriculum) and data analysis to

ensure that we are meeting students where they are at and pushing them to meet their highest

potential. And we definitely plan to have a lot of fun along the way.

 

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year, we are so excited to partner with our families and our

communities to make it the best for our students, our staff, our families and all of Norwood!
