Norwood Public Schools engaged Mass Insight Education & Research to conduct an equity audit of the district  to understand current strengths and challenges relative to diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students, families, and staff. Throughout the 2021-2022 school year, Mass Insight collected data, information, and perspectives from across the Norwood community through surveys, interviews, data analysis, and systems evaluations, and then presented its findings to the district. The School Committee voted to shift the school start times in the September of 2022. The approximate times are in these slides but we will also examine bus runs next year to see if the elementary start could be pushed back a little more. Click the headline for the presentation.

In preparation for the School Committee meeting on March 10, 2021, the Task Force is sharing the results of the parent surveys completed in February 2021, the second FAQ that answers the questions which we received via the contact form, and a document that addresses the benefits and concerns of the proposal. The School Committee will discuss and vote on this initiative on March 10.

The School Committee and the District have been researching school start times, health, well being, and academics of all students preK-12th grade since spring 2017. A district-wide Task Force has been working comprehensively on this initiative since 2018. The Task Force will be presenting to the School Committee on January 13, 2021 with recommendations on school start times.
