Course Selection for 2019-2020 School Year

Students will be in the process of completing course selection with their guidance counselor for the 2019-2020 school year following their return to school after February vacation. Teachers will begin inputting course and level recommendations starting in early February. Students are encouraged to have conversations with teachers regarding course/level placement.

Once teachers have entered recommendations, guidance counselors will meet individually with all students to input course requests. In addition to the core courses required, students may also continue with a sequential elective class (if approved) or select a new course. Grade-level elective course offerings can be viewed by clicking on the respective links below.

The prerequisites for all courses are listed in the Program of Studies which can be found on the main page of the Norwood High School website. Again, courses and levels are determined based on current teacher recommendations.

As a parent/guardian, your student will receive a print-out of his/her course requests after guidance counselors meet with him/her. You will be able to see these requests through Aspen as well. If you have concerns about a course placement or level, then you can call or email the department chair for that subject and discuss the override process. ALL OVERRIDES MUST BE COMPLETED BY APRIL 12, 2019.  Please note that no overrides will be considered after this date unless it is teacher driven. Teacher-driven changes can always be made.

Please note that these elective offerings only include new electives for a student who elects to switch to a different course. Sequential elective offerings are available in the Program of Studies and require teacher approval.
