What is SEPAC?
SEPAC is the acronym for Special Education Parents Advisory Council and the Norwood SEPAC has been active for many years. Each school district is required under Massachusetts General Law to have a parent advisory council. Norwood has over 600 children on individualized education plans (IEPs), Section 504 Accommodations, or in out-of-district placements.

The mission of the Norwood SEPAC:
- To forward the understanding of, respect for, and support of all children with special needs who reside within our town. To that end, we will work to:

- Promote a network of parents of children with special needs, and provide a forum for the parents to share information.
- Advise the Director of Student Services operations and development of special education programs, parent and teacher training needs, and to help develop policy.
- Promote communication between parents, staff and administration.
- Promote communication and programs within the community that seek to encourage understanding, acceptance and inclusion of the children with special needs.
- Provide informational forums to parents as often as possible.

Whenever possible and appropriate, children are placed in Inclusive Programs, in their neighborhood school. Over the years, this philosophy has benefited all of the children in the Norwood Public School system.
