Behavioral & Mental Health
For Norwood Public School students who are hospitalized for behavioral or mental health issues we request parents/guardians work closely with the school staff to facilitate a smooth and easy transition back to school for their child. Ideally this collaboration should begin as soon as possible after the initiation of treatment to ensure that a joint treatment plan is in place upon return to school.
There is a clinician letter for parents/guardians to give to the person who is primarily caring for the hospitalized child. A Behavioral Health Re-Entry Form should accompany the letter and with parent/guardian permission be completed by the clinician.
Please notify the Principal/Guidance Counselor/School Nurse to arrange a school re-entry meeting prior to the student's return to school. This will ensure that there is a continuity of care for your child and that all parties are working towards the same goal of providing a safe and comfortable environment for every child. The completed Behavioral Health Re-Entry Form should be returned to the school at the re-entry meeting.
