Post Secondary Education and Career Options

The Norwood High School Library has materials that will be of use to you in your research about what schooling you might pursue after high school.  There are also a number of career information books. Some books give an overview of a broad range of careers.  Others offer information focusing on a specific type of career i.e. nursing or engineering. There are books that offer advice on making choices, suggestions for best practices while you are getting an education.  There are books that explain financial aid options, too. Below are a few examples of titles found in our library.  Check the Destiny Catalog to find additional titles.

Community College FAQs
Nearly half of the undergraduate college students in the U.S. were enrolled in two-year community colleges in 2011-2012. The majority were enrolled part time. More than 40% of low-income students and nearly 40% of those whose parents didn't graduate from college go to community colleges. The percentages are significantly lower for high-income students or the children of college graduates. A relatively small percentage of community college students get a bachelor's degree within six years, but more than a third graduate. Investigate remedial education at the community college level. Learn about placement exams, dual enrollment and online education.

You must choose a particular career track when you take the Foreign Service Officer Exam.
