Terms related to sexual orientation and gender diversity have been defined in several APA documents. Due to
the developing understanding of constructs, shifting usage of terms, and contextual focus of these documents,

Self-Help: Sexual Identity and Orientation
Part of understanding who you are is being comfortable with your sexuality. It is normal to question who you might be romantically attracted to—this is called your sexual orientation. You can be heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, or questioning. Questioning is one of the newer categories because health professionals are coming to understand that sometimes you just don't know. Safe Schools Program for LGBTQ
The Safe Schools Program for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) Students is a joint initiative between the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) and the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth*. Founded in 1993 in response to concerns about LGBTQ youth suicides and other risk factors, the program now offers a range of services designed to help schools implement state laws impacting LGBTQ students, including the state's anti-bullying law, gender identity law, and student anti-discrimination law.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teens may experience difficulties in school environments and in other places.
